Audacity Tutorial for beginner cover mixers

This is a tutorial for beginner mixers who are brand new to audacity. It covers the very basics of mixing and syncing.

1. Open Audacity

2. Go to File -> Import -> Audio and select your recorded file

3. Repeat step 2 and import your instrumental/song

4. Now play the audio and check if they are in sync. (For this step, you are strongly encouraged to adjust the volumes such that you hear an equal amount of both to make an accurate judgement).  If the recorded file is slower (the instrumental/song starts first) then click on the instrumental/song file and go down to the selection start section and change it relative to the difference in timing, e.g. 00.50s

5. Then go to Tracks -> Align tracks -> Align with selection start

6. At this point, you should see the track shift a little. Play it again and check if it syncs. If it doesn't, continue adjusting the timing until it syncs.

7. If the instrumental/song is slower (the recorded file starts first) then select the recorded file and go down to the selection start section and change it to a timing relative to the difference in timing, e.g. 00.50s

8. Repeat step 5 and 6.

9. At this point, the tracks should be synced and you should be ready for export. Go to File -> Export and then save the file.

10. You can choose to save the project as an .aup file type to edit it anytime again if you wish to. However, if you don't see the need to, you can just close it.

I hope this helped you!
